Jewel Box

Jewel Box happened due to my passion for jewelry. I was very fond of wearing accessories which were different and when I got some time in hand, I decided to go for a small three hour course on jewelry making with a friend and all that I have learnt formally in jewelry making is that. After spending 5 plus years in jewelry making I can say for sure that all you need is being creative to sustain in this field. I love designing things which are different and the mediums that I use include, semi precious stones, polymer clay, german silver and sterling silver. As mentioned I do collect the raw materials from various parts of the world and I have a special love for things with rough textures, matt and antique finish than anything shining and glossy.

The Making

Might sound silly, but I dont really follow any process. I do collect raw materials from various parts of the world (one of the things I do without fail during travels is visiting the craft markets/stores and collect what I find interesting) and keep storing them. It is very rare that I collect things which will go with what I already have in hand to make a set. I have a huge inventory of raw materials and when I see certain things together, I just love the way they look together and combine them to make a product.

The Designer

Shimmy is an engineer from NIT Calicut and was working with an IT major as a senior project manager when she decided to follow her passion. Like many, it started more as a hobby wherein she created jewelries for herself but eventually started selling and there was no looking back. This is something that she is extremely passionate about and helps utilize her time creatively.
